Every December, Dooney & Bourke holds a wildly popular tent sale for customers at their Norwalk, Connecticut factory to offer closeouts, samples and special products. The company wanted a different look and feel for their tent sale, something to match the elegance of their line of handbags, briefcases, wallets, agendas and portfolios, and other luxury gift items. The second phase of the remodel process included the checkout and register areas of the store; not only did Good Foods want to expand the register area from four to five registers, the co-op also wanted the register area to be inviting and friendly, and reflect the store brand. Village Market has been in its current building since 1970. With four checkout lanes and a customer service desk in the store, there was no easy way for customers to determine if a checkout lane was open. Village Market wanted to make sure the checkout lights mirrored the rest of the store’s decor.
